Making sure that library collections represent all students is imperative. In order to be more fully ground in this work I am attending this institute to find ways to consistently do this work.

Reviews CR-SE Framework (Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education) as we delve into our own identities, our unconscious and implicit bias and the micro- and macro-aggressions that members of our communities face on a daily basis.
We will look deeply at our resources, collections and instructional practices to create an environment that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. Those that participate will continue this work throughout the next school year through projects, book studies and crucial conversations with their colleagues.
NYLA/SSL goals:
establish a shared understanding of foundational concepts and issues related to race, racism, and racial equity.
encourage school librarians’ self-reflection related to racial, ethnic and gender identity for diverse students.
develop instructional strategies and curate resources for creating and/or improving library programs and services for diverse students, Black, Indigenous, Asian, Latinx, Islamic, and/or LBGTQ+.
Summer 2021 - representatives of K-12 librarians are working on curriculum for media literacy through OCMBOCES
This Media Literacy Task force was created to ensure that our region is ready when the Media Literacy for ALL is adopted by NYS. There are bills on the table right now and you are all familiar with Developing Digital Citizens: Media Literacy Education for ALL (attached here).

Inquiry Lab - event that allowed students and librarians to explore new technologies, ask questions, and grow in understanding
Gamification Lab - Breakout EDU and other educational games and techniques shared for use in the Library and Classroom
Netflix Party - social connection during COVID-19 to grow partnerships
Book Club - Each month a new book is chosen to be read by members and discussed
